MANIFESTOS

North of North

The north is cold. But when you get north of north, something strange sets in. The people get warmer. They huddle up and stick together no matter how far south the mercury drops. It’s these perfect winter temperatures that make a smooth sipping bourbon we call warmth in a bottle. Smoother than silk and handcrafted smoky good. Douglas & Todd. Bring your friends, bring a compass.

Brutally Smooth

Smooth isn’t born that way. Here in the North, smooth bourbon starts out harsh. A 32 degrees below zero kind of harsh. Unexpectedly perfect weather for smooth distilling. Every oak barrel gets triple fire-charred before bunking up for four, long, cold years. The bourbon breathes while it storms and ices outside. So before you say ‘How smooth it is’, always remember how harsh it was.

We Froze Hell Over

Up in the northern reaches of Minnesota, Lake Osakis’ winter temp sits around 32 below. Even the trees wear sweaters. It’s almost impossible to go outside. If you do, hold your breath, close your eyes, and move like crazy. In summer, even thinking about the local watering hole will quick-shrink your body. Which naturally makes it the ultimate place to distill smooth bourbon. People didn’t give us a snowball’s chance in hell of succeeding. But we did. Open for proof.
